I was sitting in my truck in the Kohls parking lot in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Wife was in the store. A woman wearing a prominent Jesus shirt pecked on my window and told me a sob story about having hungry kids at home. I asked her why she didn't get food pantry help. She looked startled [that should have been my cue] and said that they didn't give out meat at the food pantry. I fished out a twenty and she said God bless you and left.
About a month later I was sitting in my truck in the parking lot at the Cape Girardeau mall. Wife was in the mall. The SAME woman in the SAME Jesus shirt pecked on my window and tearfully related a story about her brother just dying in the hospital across the street and she needed money to get back home to Sikeston, Missouri. I pulled out my phone and told her that I was gonna dial 911 if she didn't start walking. She didn't walk - she RAN.
