Sign o the Times

Too much intervention from big brother. Some people are making more money on unemployment than if they worked. They're in no hurry to go back to work.

The other day in town there was a woman standing on a corner with a sign about how hard up she was,no job, etc.Directly across the street was NOW HIRING signs for Lowes and one for Chick-fil-let.

Be it the society we live in here North America U.S. & Canada there has become an over arching Style of life and attitude that has crippled the work ethic many of us grew up with. Both my wife Brenda and I shake our heads when we see Those who from adult to child to grand child etc., on down the line >ATTITUDE< Just Sit On My Duff and Complain LOUNDLY and the GOVERNMENT WILL Feed, Cloth, House ME If they don't I will protest and smash things.

Forgot about that one, one corner I pass through to work there is a woman panhandling and she has a teenage daughter just hanging around there. On the opposite corner about 100 yards away someone posted a sign saying they had housecleaning jobs available.

I passed a panhandler one day in my pickup. Drove around the block, stopped, got out the shovel, and went up and asked if he would come do some digging for me. Was told heck no and given the story about a bad back. Wished I had a video of it.

The ones I hate the most are the young, long haired, freaky ones with the homeless vet sign. I'm a vet who worked for a living and there is no reason that they can't be working or else be getting disability from the VA. They don't look like they were a recent vet anyway. There are real homeless vets around that can use the help.

Last time I got took by a panhandler was 3 years ago at a large truck stop. Getting gas and a guy came up and said he needed some money for gas to get home. Told him he could pull the car up to the pump and I'll pump some in for him but he wanted cash. So I gave him a few bucks. Then he went about 5 pumps down and was hitting someone else up. I parked and went into the store and saw him and his girlfriend carrying out a bunch of food and drinks to their car.

I was washing my truck and a man walked up and asked me for money to get something to eat. Long story about how long he had been without eating. Behind him you could see a Micky D's and I told him to turn around and look. I said see that Micky D's go over there and when I get done rinsing the soap off my truck I would come over there and buy all he could eat and some to take with him. He said he didn't want to put me out that much just give him a few dollars and he'd get it. I gave him a good cussing and told him what he could eat!

For several months there was a panhandler on the corner across from the gas station near me. One day I was in the station and the clerk commented that if he was getting $5 from each person, he was raking in several thousand a day.
If two people per minute gave him a five, that would be $600 an hour. Ten hours, six grand, and you can bet he didn't pay a dime in taxes.
There was a lady who hung out in front of the Dillons store with a dog. She looked seriously homeless. Late one night as I was getting gas, she was walking down the street, so I observed. She had a near new truck parked in a strip mall about a block from where she begged. Dillons ran her off after her dog bit some kids.

Oh heck I've heard first-hand stories of professional panhandlers getting into much fancier vehicles than that.

If it wasn't for the LYING, I would have no problem with it. But you usually can't tell if it's a pro or someone truly in need.

I was sitting in my truck in the Kohls parking lot in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Wife was in the store. A woman wearing a prominent Jesus shirt pecked on my window and told me a sob story about having hungry kids at home. I asked her why she didn't get food pantry help. She looked startled [that should have been my cue] and said that they didn't give out meat at the food pantry. I fished out a twenty and she said God bless you and left.

About a month later I was sitting in my truck in the parking lot at the Cape Girardeau mall. Wife was in the mall. The SAME woman in the SAME Jesus shirt pecked on my window and tearfully related a story about her brother just dying in the hospital across the street and she needed money to get back home to Sikeston, Missouri. I pulled out my phone and told her that I was gonna dial 911 if she didn't start walking. She didn't walk - she RAN.

That is BS. You either have work ethic or you don't. Money, lack of, having a job or not do not enter into it.
There is no more lack of work ethic today than there was in ancient Rome.
The one thing we do have is a much larger platform to stand on and cry about our imagined hurts!

Where is the free health care? Canada has no or little out of pocket health care, here in the US we have a very convoluted system where the very destitute get a minimum of free health care and the rest of us face bankruptcy for ours.
We need to look North for a better system.

Wow. I just ate my last filet mignon. Can you send me a 20 for some more meat? Better make that 40 so my poor wife can have a filet to. Darn, forgot about my daughter and son-in-law, so please send me 80. Darn again, forgot about some baked potatoes and some Dom Perignon to wash it all down with. Looks like I'll need a couple hundred bux so I don't starve to death tonight. Oh, I can arrange for direct deposit so just send me your bank account info, DOB, SS#, and your user names and passwords and I will take care of it. Thank you very much for feeding the hungry. And, lunch time is coming up, need a saw buck for that as well. If I can't feed my wife in the manner she is accustomed to then I will be homeless sleeping in the pickup. Better send me a grand for that. Do that I'll give you 2 God bless you's. Make that 3 God bless you's since I don't have a Jesus shirt to put on since they are so expensive. Also can you spare me another hundred to gas up our 2021 Subaru Forester? Inflation, you know. We just had hail damage on the new house so if you can spare 15 grand for new shingles it would be appreciated. Add another 15 grand for damage to the new RV as well. I can't live another day without buying a new boat so please send me a boat load of cash for that. I'm talking about a really big boat so I can launch my airplane from it. Without all that I'll never be able to get to the winter mansion in Hawaii.

LOL. Just having fun and I'm not picking on you.

Great song .... 1971 ..... Five Man Electrical Band from Canada. Hey you guys, it's the land of the free, those guys choose not to work and to beg. Not my cup of tea but no big deal really, there are tons of wealthy people we admire who scam people out of a lot more money than those guys do.

Talked to my friend back east yesterday, she was looking at jobs to get back into the home nursing/health care deal she was doing at $19 before the most-ultra-deadliest-ever flu hit
$9 an hour, no training, no certification allowances, that's what she made in 2002 when she got into it.

Meanwhile pennDOT is starting near 20 with full benefits and younger guys quit as fast as they can hire because it's too hard.
