I had some older friends (now deceased) I used to do some equipment repair and maintainence for . They bought a JD gator mostly for the ease of getting on/off and after one brother passed away the surviving one traded it for a Kubota 1100 utv. The Kubota probably cost as much or more than a small utility tractor with loader (he bought one of them too eventually). So I agree with you , use what works for you and if you want a gator go for it.
