It was new to me as well. I friend of mine who works on diesel trucks told me to use silicon spray instead of ether. In the past I have used WD40 with ether at the same time. At this point I am trying anything. Hopefully pull starting will do the trick. I understand the timing could be off, however it was running fine until I turned it off.
