Hi, you can find the UK 74 Series Service manuals at link below. If your 784 is a Louisville, KY assembled unit it will have a few differences in the external hydraulic remotes than the UK 74 series but inside the 3pt housing should be the same. There is a section on the hydraulics with a trouble shooting guide. In the Service Manual Group 10 Hydraulic System Page 7 with a diagram explains the workings of the 3pt Position Control lever.

I remember something about the UK IH guys mentioning about an allen screw inside the 3pt housing that was on the rod for 3pt up/down lever mechanism that could come loose causing the 3pt up/down lever not to work.
