IH 784 Rear lift wont move

784 Guy

New User
Hey fellas!! New to this forum looking for some help.. I just bought a IH 784 a few weeks back. I was using a grader box the other day an when I tried to raise it, nothing happened. I checked the linkage external an everything is connected. Now, if I raise my draft lever it will come up an down that away but will not raise or lower using the normal lever.. any ideas or recommendations on what it may be?

Thanks

where are you setting the Draft lever at? If it is in the top end it will affect the normal operation action of the regular lift lever. Just as it is in the slow position at the bottom it will drop such you need a post beside it to see it drop. Move it to about mid travel on the draft lever and see if it works better. Otherwise I will say get a pull blade and dump the 3 pt stuff. We have only one thing that needs a 3 pt that is the hitch for the corn planter.

I have moved the draft every 1/2 inch an tried to move the lift lever an it still wont move. Only way it will go up or down is to move my draft lever all the way to light then in raises an then move my draft lever back down towards heavy an then rear lifts fall all the way down

Draft lever needs to be in the light/position control spot if I recall for the position control lever to work.

In full draft control/heavy spot it will only raise in response to the draft sensing valve.

(quoted from post at 09:23:02 05/06/21) Since this is a 2 week old 784, how is the hydralic fluid and hydraulic fluid filter? Use Hy-Tran.

Previous owner said he just had everything serviced all oils an filters changed

I have tried it in every position still no luck.

I am thinking it's a linkage problem-probably inside the top
transmission/rockshaft cover. Since you say the draft lever will make
it go up and down, although I bet it's abrupt, and the lift control
linkage is externally attached, it has to be internal. I've had 3 of
those top covers off, and there is more linkage, but I cannot remember
too much about them to be very helpful. I would look on the case/ih
website parts site and look at the diagrams. I do not believe there is
any access other than removing the top cover. Mark.

Hi, you can find the UK 74 Series Service manuals at link below.
If your 784 is a Louisville, KY assembled unit it will have a few differences in the external hydraulic remotes than the UK 74 series but inside the 3pt housing should be the same.
There is a section on the hydraulics with a trouble shooting guide.
In the Service Manual Group 10 Hydraulic System Page 7 with a diagram explains the workings of the 3pt Position Control lever.

Also look at: https://www.redpowermagazine.com/forums/topic/133235-784-hydraulic-hitch-stuck/

I remember something about the UK IH guys mentioning about an allen screw inside the 3pt housing that was on the rod for 3pt up/down lever mechanism that could come loose causing the 3pt up/down lever not to
work.
