I'm trying to get a 584 to charge. It has the Lucas alternator. I have 12 volts on the wire from switch to alternator (switch on and tractor not running). However with the tractor running no volt reading from switch when attached to alternator and alternator will not charge. With tractor running I can unplug wire from switch from the alternator and get 12 volts from switch. I jumped from hot terminal on starter to terminal on alternator where switch wire goes on alternator and presto alternator charges? Where is the problem?
