In my county when I built my garage, added on to my house and had a hay barn built, I got a letter each time from the tax assessor saying- we have drove by your property and noticed you built whatever-. How much did you spend? On my garage I said @ $9000, but I am not finished yet. The other 2 I stated what my expenses had been. The first barn I built I don't remember them asking about. I don't recall the effect on my taxes-did not seem like much. No permits needed. Mark.
