If I shift the range side into gear and leave the other lever in neutral I can start the tractor and put it in gear with no grinding and I'm good to go. I can also shift the range from 3rd to 4th without any grinding. It's mainly when starting the tractor when cold as in the oil temp not necessarily when it's cold out side. I live in South Dakota and it doesn't matter if it's winter or spring.
