In-laws bought a water front lake house on Livingston when they retired. Fr.-in-law used to laugh that his lake front lot was 65 ft wide and 5 miles long....he bought before the lake started filling to get piers and bulkheads established and he was located on the soon to be widest part of the lake. Every summer we took the kids and went down there for a week....great sport. The first few years fishing and the taste of the fish were super. Later on, since the lake was on the Trinity River and that river serves Ft. Worth and then Dallas......not so much.
This was back in late 1960's and I was amazed at the surveyors of this 85,000 Acre water storage area who got the normal pool shoreline surveyed within 1 foot of actual. Very impressive especially since this was the E. Texas Piney Woods and timber was everywher and given the size of the project.
