I was about to go down to the shop when the snow plow went by. We got around two inches last night. They were out at around 7:00, 11:00, 5:00, and then at around 9:30 just before I went out. Of course there was no snow to plow and the road surface was drying up so the carbide in the cutting edges was burning up, LOL. Our small town has two town owned trucks and probably five that are hired. Two of the hired trucks are owned by the road agent. In order to be able to hire plow trucks these days you have to give them a guarantee that they will get called out for so many hours minimum. If not they get paid for staying home. Many residents here drive into the greater Boston area to work and make very good money so they need to have clear roads awaiting them when they leave in the morning. The drivers of the town trucks get an hourly rate of course, with overtime for plowing after hours. In order to be able to fill the positions the drivers have to be assured of a certain amount of overtime. So, snow or no snow they are out there plowing. While I was typing this the other town plow truck went by. And no, they weren't winging back, just the usual six inches over the edge at a good 25 MPH.
