Lots of general questions like do I "need" all those wheel bolts, I was given advice (and not taken :lol:) to run my drive wheels with only 50% of the mounting hardware. The requirement for this machine regardless of make or model is to be as reliable as possible as it will be doing hundreds of hours of work thousands of dollars from the nearest workshop and I don't fancy having to leave my machine in the middle of a "swamp" for another few years while I track down parts (if they happen to be "the wrong parts" that break) or God Forbid, need an air lift, or worse yet a pine box because of a failure.
What sorts of metal are old mounting studs like this made from?
I mean my good bolts still have casting flash on them which in my limited experience is a good sign I cant weld it to a standard to which I would trust my life or the life of others against I do have 2 "practice" or "spare" bolts because I always over-order due to paranoia and 'they don't make 'em anymore" factor so I can do very limited testing but have no idea how to really.
I am just a man with a lathe a welder and a tractor and just enough knowledge to get neck deep in trouble.
