Hope this makes sense. My F2000 Kubota was doing the same thing. New starter and solenoid was no help. jm provided me with the answer. I wired in a second solenoid. Took the wire from the key switch to the original solenoid to activate the new solenoid. Ran a #10 wire from the positive post on the battery thru the new solenoid to the post I removed the the key wire from on the original solenoid. 20 dollar fix and have had 0 problems for 4 years. Now have a spare starter and solenoid. jm said that over the years the safety switches reduced the current to the solenoid enough to cause intermittent failure. Try running a jumper wire from the pos on battery to the key post on solenoid. Bet it starts every time. Adding the second solenoid keeps all the safety switches in play.
