Do any of you guys use Fixed Timed estrus synchronization AI. If so how do you like it.
I was talking to a guy up the road. He is going to 100% Fixed Timed AI in a beef herd followed by a clean up bull. Expects to get 50 to 60 percent conception rate from the AI. His goal is to increase herd size without adding a bull and bringing better genetics into the herd.
I have used heat detection estrus synchronization on dairy heifers in the past but never fixed timed.
In my thinking it might work great with heifers but I do not think I would be up to the challenge of running cows threw the chute several times over a short period with a 2 month old calf at their side.
