For those thinking drain tile, that just won't work here. First off there is only about 3' of total drop to water table from the high ground here. And all the edges of the fields end at the water line for most of the year. And all the ditches run real close to the water line with only minimal drop. So any tile put in the ground would be under water most of the time. So no water would run through it. Plus this soil is such clay that water won't migrate through it, so tile wouldn't work anyway. I need to work some more on the ditches so the surface water runs off better, that will help a lot. But with the weather we've had lately, there just is not much to be done but wait. And that's what I will do now. Supposed to be a nice week and there was a lot of improvement already today as it was warm and windy. I'm thinking a couple more days and things will be good again.
