We had a 2 ton GMC when I was a kid in the 50's- it had the famed "270 Jimmy" engine, and a flatbed with a hoist. Dad bought a stack of pea silage about 10 miles away, and every day after morning milking we would go get a load. While dad pitched it on, I found pickled peas and ate them. They were about the shape of an aspirin tablet and tasted great. Didn't understand until later why he told me not to tell mom about it (I thought at the time that she would think it would spoil my lunch).
