Guys have gone back to college in their 30's and would not be a bad idea if the time is there (along with the money). There are some good guys in extension but they usually are not allowed the time to work many hours with one farmer to get them up to speed. Then there are the extension guys who only want to work with the established elite farms. Based on what I have seen here I would not count on extension to teach somebody who is raw everything that they need to know.
