Guys around here went hard into the dairy business during the 1960's when feed, labor, fuel, and interest were cheap only to be up ended by the 1980's and gone. Guys who played it too safe then they found that they could not support a family on 25-30 cows by the 1980's. One piece of advice which withstands the test of time is booms are seldom long lived. Don't plan on a sharp rise in commodity prices lasting for many years on end.
