I raised a Brahman heifer in high school FFA. She had a ton of personality. We kept commercial cattle, breeding to hereford, angus, brangus and various cross bred bulls. We did end up with a couple dutch belted/oreo cows. They were easy calvers. My personal favorite were Shorthorns and if I had my choice that's what I'd get now. But in my area of Georgia, it's mostly black cattle. That certified Angus beef just drives prices. But what I really find funny about certified Angus beef is a red Angus wouldn't qualify because it isn't predominantly black.
