I bought a 47 Cub where someone had put on an external coil on the mag and what looked like a wiring harness from a newer tractor that would have had some safety switches as part of the wiring. On my mag I just had to replace the internal coil on the mag and I just cut off all the wiring and started over. My Cub has a 1 wire alternator and with the mag so there isn't much wiring required.
