He sure doesn't have much of a brain to overload the horses like that even if it would be practical. Conventianal wisdom says a 6' mower requires 2 horses or cutting 3' per horse. A 7' mower gets 3 horses put on. So figuring the 3' cut per horse and 24' would take 8 head of horses to push that thing. 8 x 3 = 24 foot. And then with 2 head on a 6' mower you stop every half hour to give the horses a 10 minute break before going back to work. Now figuring the power of 3 head on a 7' mower would take 10 head to push that thing. I know the Amish normally do not want a 7' mower because of the 3 horse requirement. And I forget total of horse drawn mowers I have provided the Amish over the years.. And a lot of the mowers were 5' with 2 head so that is 2.5 foot cut per head. Then how would he control it?
