If you can only weld from one side you need to V it out and weld a root pass, usually with 6010, if your good at it it will look like it was welded from the backside. When welding smaller pipes that what the welder does, a root pass with 6010 and then finish it with 7018, it will look like it's been welded from the inside and be very strong. I don't know if you can do anything like that with mig.
