I bought a new Mig welder before end of 2019, used it for the first time today.

My biggest problem with welding is the long time span between times I use it. If you have a lot to do for say a project, it will get noticeably better as you move through the job, even from one fifteen minute segment to another. Wait six months and you seem to be back to square one, at least that's what happens to me.

I agree for a mig it looks very good. However anything welded only on one side is like a hinge, it needs to be welded on both sides. In this case the side I can't see opposite the weld. Maybe it is welded there and I just can't see it. Anyway looks good. Try the hinge thing sometime. Weld two pieces of metal (say 1/4 x 1 1/2 a few inches long) together end to end on one side only. Put in vise and try and break weld. Now go back and weld again but on both sides, try break test again.

If you can only weld from one side you need to V it out and weld a root pass, usually with 6010, if your good at it it will look like it was welded from the backside. When welding smaller pipes that what the welder does, a root pass with 6010 and then finish it with 7018, it will look like it's been welded from the inside and be very strong. I don't know if you can do anything like that with mig.
