It is customary to replace the condenser along with the points. A lot of good condensers were probably discarded. The reason, profit.
Many years ago people seldom bathed as often as now or washed their hair more than once a time. An advertising company came up with the printed instructions of the shampoo bottles Shampoo (or lather) rinse, "repeat". With those simple instructions that company doubled its sales.
I used to save my old condensers, but as times changed they were discarded, but this was before the imported condensers that have no quality control or have dubius origins.
