I am restoring my dad s model year 1991 Cub Cadet 1862. So far I have solved a few puzzles to get the mower running but have hit a big snag to get it to move.
The unit has power/tilt steering. I can turn the steering wheel in either direction with ease, even when the mower is off, and the wheel turns as many rotations as I want in either direction. But no matter what I do, the tires do not turn when I spin the steering wheel. I can turn the tires by hand, but not with the steering wheel.
I checked the lines at the steering box and all of the lines are hooked up correctly. Hydraulic fluid is full.
When I picked up the tractor a few years ago I had to push it up a ramp into my truck. The tires turned with the steering wheel then. It was tough to turn because the tractor was off but the steering worked. I recall when I unloaded it from the truck the front end of the tractor came down hard. But I pushed it straight back into the garage and didn t turn the wheel at the time.
