Here in central Kansas (I'm 40 miles north of Wichita) the wheat headed out just in the past week. Most of it looks pretty decent but we'll have to wait and see if we got any damage from a late freeze we had. Hopefully the heads were still buried deep enough in the stalk to be protected. A lot of guys were planting corn up until a week ago when it got wet again and that is up an inch or two. A few beans have been planted but I don't know if anything is up yet. Still a little too early and cool for milo - I'd be really surprised if any of that has been planted yet. There is standing water in some fields around our place right now and rain predicted for almost every day this next week so it will be a while before we're back in the fields. The rains have been really spotty - one day last week we had mud and at the same time six miles south of us they were kicking up dust working ground. A day or two later I was a few miles north of our place and saw an irrigation pivot running on wheat so within ten miles you can go from being dry to wet then back to dry again.
