I can't speak for the hub difference. I can say 30 years ago I took old seed disks. That were so small for there and moved to fertilizer openers by putting a bolt through the hole, tighten a nut down and spin them in the drill press. Then with a disc grinder cut them to the right size. Ones just a bit big I would turn down sort of like in a lathe, the bigger ones I would part off like parting off in a lathe. Saved grinding time. A cutting wheel would cut easier than a grinding wheel will.
