I think one of the worst things they did to this country was allow lawyers to advertise. People before were bad enough to start frivolous law suits but now they are winning and trying to sue for any little thing. One of my customers has a business in a retail location. His air conditioning went out so he hires an air conditioning company to replace it. The air conditioning unit went in the attic of his store and apparently they didn't send enough helpers. The guy wrestling the unit through the attic hit a junction box on the wiring in the attic, knocking it loose and fried himself. Now the family of the worker is suing not only the air conditioning company but the store owner too.
Then I had a family member that died of lung cancer. At one time 50 years previously he worked briefly doing brake work in a garage so his family received a quarter of a million dollars from a mesothelioma settlement. From the time I can remember for 20 years I never saw the man once without a cigarette and I've stayed at his house for days at at time.
