As I recall, DeWalt failed because they made high quality stuff and and listed it for a premium price and at some point that business model no longer worked.
Dack and Blecker made cheap power tools to sell at a low price, and at some point didn't have a real good reputation for quality.
They then bought the DeWalt name and converted the color of their power tools to yellow and black.
Love or hate today's DeWalt power tools they have NO relationship to, nor are they descended from the (high quality) DeWalt power tools from "back in the day"
