This happened about 100 miles from my place, It's an old coal mining area with many abandoned mine shafts. Can you imagine the owners thoughts when he opened the shed doors and saw that? (:-(
Here is a bit of the story from the local paper.
Mine opens up swallows tractor
Every once and a while area people are again reminded they live above one of the state's largest underground mines.
The Knife River Underground Mine, which was in operation until the 1940s, made its presence known once again when a sink hole opened up southeast of Beulah.
The 10-foot deep, 20-foot diameter sink hole located under a shop on land owned by Garner Sailer claimed a tractor, with a combine teetering on the edge. Another hole is beginning to form at the back end of the building.
The Public Service Commission Abandoned Mine Lands Division was called to investigate the situation and begin work to reclaim the area.
