On my WD-45...With the Power kit, I had to put a 12v. battery in to start it reliably... That also made me change to an Alternator...(From a Ford car..w/ seperate regulator)..one with an internal reg. is even easier to install.. I put the pulley from the generator on the alternator, bolted it on... I REVERSED the polarity, to Negative ground, and put a different ignition switch in place of the original... OH!..I did put a ballast resister in the wire to the coil, to drop the voltage to 6 volt... There are other ways to wire it, but this was easy, and works perfect.! Ron.
