I'm not sure about anyone else, but I've been toying with the idea of removeing the track assemblies from an junk tracked snowblower, and mount them in place of the rear wheels on a garden tractor or riding mower, leaving the front wheels on. Like the Half-tracks used in WWII. As long as the front is heavy enough to still steer I think it can be made to work. Another way of doing it with full tracks (like a bulldozer) besides the cltuches method is like a zero-turn works. A hydraulic pump and motor for each side. You use the sticks to control 2 valves, controlling oil flow. Would be a bit costly for the pumps and motors, unless you have an old zero turn to convert.
