the setup is simple a lever pulls a track clutch to slowly release it. then halfway through travel, clutch is free. then as the lever travels farther, it pulls a band brake to actually stop that track. thats how it works. any way you produce this action, its the way it must be, or it wont turn right. you could use brakes only, but it wont turn as well or as smoothly.
