I haven't seen one but heard that their were some limited D's with diesel engines. I believed they belched, knocked, and generally ran rough. I'm not sure if their was anything wrong but JD believed the Farmers would think so so they weren't mass produced. The R came out with a redesigned diesel that sounded better. The 10 series (4010) was probably the first one that that didn't sound like it was tearing it's self apart - music to a hard core JD lovers ears.
