Since they are in that business, i would run from this as it will rely upon normal healing process with some therapy to manage the pain. Just about everyone with some age will have some problems that show up on ex-ray as early stenosis etc. A mri will show real problems and progression.
The problem is... due to risks associated with surgery, they will NOT do anything till it has progressed to a certain point, otherwise your wasting your time and money. Until then, steroid shots, efa's and other methods are about your only relief.. Younger people can benefit from physical therapy to strengthen the back, old people, not so much as it will make it worse in most cases. NSAP drugs that reduce inflammation will be your friend.
I was lucky enough to get a great surgeon who did a 1 inch cut and removed the material pinching the nerves on my right side. Checked in a 5 am and out by 3am, with six weeks of restricted recovery at home. However he said there are many types problems that are not "fixable" as mine were.
