Hemp is something you would lock in your market for the crop before you even plant the seed. Kentucky supposedly issued permits for producers to plant 12,000 acres of industrial hemp in 2019 up from 6700 acres last year. With this yrs weather , unlikely that they got all those acres planted. 60 hemp processing plants are in Kentucky to make it marketable. There is a huge untapped demand for hemp derived CBD oils and other products. In 2019 Indiana has 100 growers of regulated hemp plots for research purposes since USDA legalized hemp as a crop. But maybe one or two processors of hemp exist in Indiana. Hemp is replacing tobacco as a niche crop in Kentucky. If demand continues industrial hemp production will keep growing and production will spread. Kentucky appears to be leading the nation in industrial hemp production & marketing at the moment.
