Yes, tools were made for them, but the average owner/operator would almost never had a need for them. These machines usually ran for many years without refueling or any other type of service. Hiram Redding of Hoven, South Dakota was one of the few farmers who actually needed any service performed on his Tri-Diectional. It was reported in the Hoven Review newspaper in March of 1911 that three strangers arrived at the Reddding farm and worked all night using a strange form of illumination. The Tri-Directional operational by sun up and the strangers had gone. No body was sure what the problem was or IF there was a problem. It was noted by many that Hiram's crops were always better, always got more rain at the right time and always brought better prices than the neighbors. Just one more mystery concerning the Tri-Directional.
