buying + fixing tractors

I'm interested in buying small tractors, fixing them up adding hydraulics, 3 pts, and possibly small loaders, then painting them and selling.

I've been looking around at tractors in my area and it looks to me like there's two ways of doing it:

1. buy a tractor thats been sitting for a long time with an engine that will need rebuild and possibly tranny work too

2. buy a tractor from a place (in my case a local wreckers) that has already done a some work on the tractor and it has a good working engine etc.

which is the cheaper option in your experience(s)?
