Funny, I also agree that the Holley carbs on Ford's, Olivers, John Deere, (trying to remember what other brands I've worked on and had to replace them??) are junk once the accelerator pump bore gets worn. It always goes like this: you can get it to idle good but won't take throttle well, or you can adjust that out of it so it will throttle up clean but won't idle smooth. We all agree they aren't much of a carb, and just to replace it with a Zenith, but there's always that one guy that will chime in and say that we're all just a bunch of idiots and those are great carbs, we just don't know what we're doing. In that case, there's a certain point of messing with something where it isn't worth the time or money saved where it's cheaper and easier to just buy a new carb that works as it should, unlike a wore out Holley carb.
