Massey 300 combine

I have an old Massey 300 gas power combine. I don't have a manual for it, so I am asking my question here. When I checked the oil, the tube for the dip stick fell off. It appears it is a two piece tube with flanged ends, so part of the tube is still in the engine. Does this sound right? And if so, does the piece still in the engine pull out or is it threaded?
