Be very careful so that you or someone helping doesn't get hit by any of the parts accidently, especially if it is tripping by itself. Shut off the baler and tractor. If the flywheel on the baler is not turning, then there is no danger. NO pressure is stored.
With the pan staying out, the spool valve is not returning to the home position (waves at you). Take the detent cap off the end of the valve, it is held on with two screws. Don't loose any of the small parts. Clean it and lube it and the spool. Put it back together.
You may have more than one problem. It should not trip by itself. If it is, the latch needs some attention or parts replaced. There two pieces to the latch mechanism, the trigger and the latch. Either can be worn, bent, broken. Just have to look at it closely.
Since you said it will relatch on occasion, the spring inside the cylinder is not broken as it sends the pan to the latch position. Just sounds like the spool above is sticking sometimes.
