I cut trees for part-time work -usually ends up being full time. I can't tell you how many I've cut AFTER someone tried "doing it themselves" and something went wrong. I'm pretty good but I do know when to say that "this tree is for someone else to mess with". Mostly, those trees have been pine. Call the professionals - It may cost more but it will be less than what your homeowners insurance will put you through.
