if it were me I would fine an old gasser. doesn't sound as though you may not use it that much. diesels are better but they need to be used more often than gassers. the trick is to find a good one regardless of what you buy. case is probably the best back hoe made. 580s were made in abundance and parts are easy to find. I had a case 530 once. nice machine but not as powerful as the 580. I would try to stay around 1980 or above for parts sake. take you time. location will make a big difference on price. ford, jd,case there all good but the trick is to find one that hasn't been abused and you can trust the seller. take your time. understand that each back hoe has its limitations. search the net for information on any model your thinking about buying. lots of good information out there. good luck on whatever you buy.
