I have had 100% success with the Pertronix kits.
They work well with less than perfect distributors where there is wear in the shaft bushings.
You will need to use resistor wires.
You must have the correct coil. As in a coil with the right resistance, 1.5 ohm for 6v, 3 ohm for 12v. The kit is polarity sensitive, so if yours is 6v pos ground, be sure to get the correct kit and know you intend to keep it that way.
It is an easy install, just follow the directions. Call Pertronox if you need help, they will gladly assist.
