As you said, you already need a newer bailer, and plan to get one in a few months. As many problems as bailers give at the worst time, having a spare would be extremely beneficial. The fact you'd have two that are identical as well as the ones you prefer sounds like a good idea.
Too, you might just find a need for the second bailer once you get it. I don't know how many times I've picked up a new tool and didn't realize how much I could have used it / needed it, until I got it.
As it stands, it sounds like you're going to be compromising to some extent any way you turn whether it's now, or later. So, I'd say do the trade now and get what you say you both want, and need, rather than compromising later on on something that's not quite what you want, or need.
