I am currently in the market for a tractor and I believe I have set my sights on a Mahindra. I like the new 4500 model, however it might be more tractor than I need. I only have 5 acres, but it is mostly field that requires shredding 4-5 times per year, so the primary use of a tractor will be for that. I do, however have need of a blade or a box grader as well to maintain the driveway (gravel/dirt). I have a neighbor that has a IH 404 that I have been using, but I want my own tractor and would prefer to purchase new. I like the IH 404 and it works pretty well with the 5ft shredder, however it does bog down a little (hence my thoughts of the Mahindra 4500 for a little extra power). I have been looking hard at the Mahindra tractors lately and I am at a bit of a loss concerning certain features that I hope someone can help me with. Primarily, I am interested in understanding the different kinds of PTO. Trasmission, constant running, etc. I understand the transmission PTO and that is what is on the IH 404..I don't like it. What is a constant running PTO (with dual stage clutch), how does it work and what are the advantages, if any? I hate the transmission PTO because I have to wait for the shredder to spin down before I put the tractor back into gear, etc. I would like to be able to back the tractor up near the edge of a ditch out front to whack the weeds down, then put tractor in gear, move over, repeat, etc without having to wait for the shredder to spin down each time. Will the CRPTO allow this? Lastly, which would you prefer for maintaining a dirt/gravel driveway...blade or box grader? Thanks for your time.

Potatoes were grown for sale and oats were grown to be used for cattle and horse feeding. Up to about 1958 the dairy cows were fed hay with some turnips and after that grass silage was the main winter feed. That same year was the last in which flax was grown on the farm. Flax provided the fibre which w
