I've got a soon to be 19 yr old son who just finished his first year of college, going to be a high school band director. He is not worth a spit working around the house. But he makes A'& B's, has a 50% scholarship and is starting to pick up paying jobs in his future profession. He didn't get to be "section leader" for next fall in the marching band because the professor told him he was to serious about music. It would have meant a few hundred dollars on his scholarship. None of his peers care about what they are doing. He is being asked by long time band directors to help them pick music for next year's contests. He has the list of music, thousands of songs, mostly memorized. I'm proud of him. He is nothing like me at that age. His peers are not very impressive. He will not have a hard time finding a good job when he graduates, the competition is pitiful.
