Craig's list is nothing more than classified ads. No more, no less. They do not supply the goofballs that come your way any more than the morning newspaper does in their classified advertising.
You should have made sure that there were no refunds, no further price reductions, and you should have put "as-is" on the bill of sale.
Bad business deals are not the fault of the advertising media. They are the fault of the parties involved. You both have a responsibility to hold up your own end of the deal. It is YOUR responsibility to protect yourself from goofballs. Not Craig's list.
