I worked for three hours today with emery cloth,two grits of fine sandpaper,rubbing compound and the buffer. I could lay the side panels down and look across them in the light and see the decals under an old thin layer of paint. There wasn't much to work with on the right side,but what was there came out alright. The left side cleaned up pretty respectable. They look good enough that I'm not going to replace them.
