I've read some of the posts and thought I'd add my $.02. First, I'm surprised at all the D-Max posts when you clearly stated "A DuraMax is not an option right now because of them being too new and too expensive." My experiance is limited and biased. I talked to a lot of people at truck stops, etc. for two years before I decided in '96' the Cummins powered Dodge made the most sence for me and my family. All the guys that delivered RVs said the Cummins gave 2 - 3 mpg more than the PS and I talked to many that had over 700,000 miles with no internal work done on the engine. I never met a PS driver with over 300,000 miles. None of them were driving the GM diesel. I bought a '96' Dodge dually extend cab 2 wheel drive w/5 speed tranny. I'm in industrial sales and don't tow very often. My truck has 192,000 miles and have had nothing fall off it!!! I take factury reps. on sales calls and they all comment on how good the ride is and how easy it is to roll off the miles (my territory is about 500 miles long so ride is important). None of them believe the age or the miles and I do nothing out of the ordinary to maintain her. Just get her serviced every 5,000 miles. There are comments on the power of the different motors. My truck is well beyond the 100,000 mile Cummins warranty so that isn't a consideration. I have invested less than $1,000.00 in simple to install power upgrades and am making over 350hp and 750 ftlb of torque. I still average 20 mpg @ 70mph. Be leary of Dodge guys telling you things bad about the PS or the PS guys saying something bad about the Dodge. Example - the dowel pin on the Cummins. It had quite a discussion on the TDR (Dodge Cummins site) and out of the thousands upon thousands of Dodges out there, probanly less than 20 had problems. Look, listen, and use your common sense and get what you want and can afford. As I said, the Cummins powered Dodge maded the most sense to me and I intend on keeping mine for another 200,000 miles and turn up the power to atleast 400 hp at the rear wheels. Sorry for the long post. Gene

An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
